WaterScrim™, The
Pioneer of indoor water screen systems.
The WaterScrim™ High Resolution Water Screen
System. Just check the facts.
Since its debut at a small rave show in
1997 the WaterScrim™ has enhanced events ranging from bar
mitzvahs to touring rock shows and now grace lobbies, atriums,
nightclubs, rotundas, shopping complex’s and building entry’s around
the world. The WaterScrim™ has been installed in more
places and been used in more events that any other water screen
system by at least 10 fold. It’s not just because we’ve been
doing it longer than anyone else, it’s the quality of our products
and services that keeps us busy.

The WaterScrim™ V5’s are the
5th design iteration in the long and prestigious history of the
world renowned WaterScrim™ high resolution water screen
systems. A impressive history of innovation and triumph follows the
WaterScrim™ from their inception/invention in 1995 to the
debut of the V5/T in 2008. Each design iteration of the WaterScrim™
was the end product of many real world shows, displays, demo’s, film
shoots, and R&D sessions. Each new version of the WaterScrim™
incorporated everything we had learned while using the previous
versions for the gamut of corporate, theatrical, touring,
advertising and trade show events.

Being both a manufacturer and a
rental service provider gives us an ideal test bed for the ideas and
products we had under development. With this real world proving
ground, we are able to constantly exercise each design and propel
its development with blurring speed. I think that is why we were/are
so far ahead of our competitors. After all, we are on the 5th design
version of our original WaterScrim™ system while our
competitors are still on their first. Mirage and it’s product Rep’s
and distributors have performed over 500 water screen shows with the
WaterScrim™ systems. That is more than 20 times our nearest
competitor.
Before you make any commitments with
regard to renting or purchasing a water screen system check the
facts first:
- How long has the company been
doing water screen shows/displays? Can they back up their
claims??
- How many permanent installations
have they completed? How many rental engagements have they
done?
- Who were the clients and were
they happy with the end product?
- What is their experience working
with Architects, GC’s, Engineers, Designers & Tradesmen??
Proof??
- Ask lots of questions about
Maintenance frequency, MTBF, Operational Simplicity, Years in
service.
- What type of warrantee and post
warrantee support programs do they offer?
After years of using the WaterScrim™'s
for every kind of show and application imaginable we had come to the
realization that In order for a water screen to really excel at a
particular application it had to be designed built and tweaked for
just that application. We had learned every trick in the book (and
there are a lot of them) to make one WaterScrim™
system perform well over such a wide
range of performance requirements and operating conditions. When we
began to design the V5’s it made the most sense to develop different
models each of which would excel within a set of performance
requirements . It all boiled down to 3 different models.
The Three Different models of the
WaterScrim™
V5 screen systems are:

V5-T : (Theatrical Model)
V5-A : (Architectural Model)
V5-R : (Residential Model)
Further, we designed them so that
there are numerous component choices, configurations, accessories
and effects capabilities that allow an even greater degree of
customization & flexibility in fine tuning their performance
characteristics. An added benefit of this multiple model
approach is that a client doesn’t end up paying for a lot of
functions, bells and buzzers that they won’t be using. All of the V5
models are adorned with the same WaterScrim™ LLNA Drip Jet
technology, so, they all create exactly the same clean uniform water
screen surface.
The V5-T
: (Theatrical Model)
The V5-T
is all about control. Designed and refined to perform flawlessly
even in the most critical cue intensive Theatrical and
Cinematic environments. The V5-T
yields smooth cue to cue transitions, fast on/off/on cycles, and
dependable, consistent ADS response. We spent a lot of time on the
Plenum design to maximize the control aspects as the plenum is
really the key to its functionality.
The V5-T model also comes
in a Touring version designated as a
V5-T/T.
The V5-T/T
Nozzle is
designed to fit inside of the V5-T Catch Trough for a more compact
touring pack. In fact the nozzle, feed hose, necessary plumbing
fittings and controller all fit inside of the V5-T Troughs. This
makes for an impressively compact system and takes up a lot less
truck space. Both the Nozzle and Trough are more rugged and robust
to withstand the rigors of touring and road abuse.

The V5-A
: (Architectural Model)
The
V5-A
is tailored for “Architectural” applications and permanent fixed
installations. The V5-A model is designed for operational conditions
that require
it to be on most of the time and not subjected to on/off/on cues. It
can certainly be turned on and off repeatedly, however, its response
time will be somewhat sluggish as compared to that of the theatrical
model. Being that Installations of this type are often less
accessible than touring or theatrical applications, the
V5-A’s are also designed to
facilitate/minimize maintenance and maximizing longevity. Since the
“A” model doesn’t have to accommodate the wide range of operating
conditions it is also more economical that the “T” models.
The V5-R
: (Residential Model)
The V5-R
is designated as a “Residential” model and is very unique as it is
purpose built specifically to be mounted inside of a standard
residential stud wall. The “R” model produces the same high
resolution playback surface as do the “A” and “T” models, however,
in a much more compact design. The ability to mount this system
inside of walls yields a very clean, unobtrusive installation for
high end residential and office/lobby applications. The
V5-R nozzle is supported by
a complete “In-wall” system that includes all of the components and
sub-systems necessary to create a “Window Like” installation.
Construction / Materials.
All of the V5
models are constructed using the finest materials available for the
task.
The Plenum is extruded from T-6 Aluminum and treated with a
proprietary 3 layer process to prevent any possibility of corrosion.
The Manifold is 304 Stainless Steel with all of the attached ports,
threaded sections and fittings fusion welded. The Linear Laminar
Array Nozzle or “Drip Strip” consists of Lexan, A bullet proof
polycarbonate material. All dissimilar metals used on the nozzle are
dielectrically isolated to further prevent any corrosion. As built,
the V5 nozzles should provide at least 20 to 30 years of service
free operation and most likely will last much longer than that.
The “Curtain
Effect” port.
The V5’s
offer end users a palette of creative tools that until now we’re
unheard of in this industry”.
One of the most powerful improvements in the
V5’s is the addition of the
“Curtain Effect” port.
This enables the nozzles to produce a water screen that opens and
closes like a main curtain. With our variable pump speed control the
curtain open/close rates are totally adjustable.
The HydroPulse™
system.
In our quest to bring you even more creative
flexibility, Mirage further pushes the envelope with a stunning new
effect, the
HydroPulse™.
When coupled with the V5 nozzles this module produces pulsating
waves within the screen that can be controlled to match any rhythm
or just to punctuate a theatrical moment. This effect of “Falling
Waves” is guaranteed to captivate your audience.
Warrantees.
The V5 Nozzles are covered by a 2 year warrantee and
guarantee that the nozzle will be replaced if it is
defective or fails to perform its intended function in any way.
